When you think of bags designed for men, your first thought is probably a rucksack or a large satchel.
However, the runways have been filled with examples of striking bags that are a lot smaller this season.
Writing for the Evening Standard, Simon Chilvers, men's style director at Matchesfashion.com, recently pointed out the rising number of designers reimagining handbags to make them a useful and striking part of men's outfits.
“The rise of mini bags, whether worn belt-like (the natural upgrade to the bumbag) or coin purses slung around the neck also seems unstoppable,” he asserted.
Among the fashion houses to be experimenting with bags in their men's collections are Versace, Fendi and Dior Men.
Mr Chilvers suggested that this is a sign that “men are just more keen to accessorise”.
Although there are examples of bags getting smaller for everyday use, there are plenty of occasions when you'll need something larger.
That's where our hipster messenger bags are perfect. They'll bring a stylish touch to your outfit and give you space to carry the likes of a laptop when you're out and about. Their leather and canvas design is timeless.
GQ Magazine also recently picked up on the trend for innovative men's bags that have flooded the runways. The publication noted that some fashion designers have adapted tried and tested favourites from their women's lines, while others have created bags from scratch.
Either way, the proliferation of bags in men's fashion is a sign that this accessory is being embraced by more and more men who want a stylish way to carry their possessions from A to B.
