From Leather Scraps to Leads: Our New Chapter

A Fresh Chapter for a Familiar Name

Every story has a beginning — and ours didn’t start with dog collars, but with bags and backpacks. Cotswold Hipster began as a curated store, sourcing stylish, functional carry goods for life in and out of the countryside. Alongside it, Pointer Leather Goods quietly took shape in the background: a personal side project born from a growing love for leatherwork and a simple goal — to make a collar for our dog.

Back in 2020, I was just beginning to teach myself leatherwork, piecing things together with borrowed tools and endless trial and error. That first project—a collar for Oscar, my German Shorthaired Pointer—sparked something far bigger than I ever expected.

That creative spark quickly grew into something more. Five years on, the leatherwork has taken centre stage — and the Cotswold Hipster name is returning, not as a rebrand, but as a refreshed identity for a business that’s found its true focus: handcrafted collars and leads inspired by dogs, craft, and the countryside.

Starting Small: How The New Look Cotswold Hipster Was Born

I designed our logo—the head of a GSP—later that same summer. It became a symbol of that early determination and love for dogs and the outdoors. I set up a small Etsy store under the name Pointer Leather Goods, selling small handmade leather items and pieces of scrap leather for other hobbyists.

I had no formal training—just a fascination with materials, a growing skillset, and a need to create. The collars were a side-project at first, but soon they became the work I looked forward to the most.

As more people found our little store and shared kind words about our products, it became clear: this wasn’t just a hobby. It was a business with purpose.

Cotswold Hipster: Same Name, New Heart

This new direction is more than a rebrand—it’s a return to our roots. We’re now proud to say we are Cotswold Hipster, a name that better reflects where we’re from, what we value, and who we create for.

Expect to see more behind-the-scenes stories, thoughtful product releases, and moments from the countryside that inspire everything we do. This blog will become our space to share it all—mistakes, lessons, ideas, and hopefully, a little bit of magic.
